MERRIMACK VALLEY RINGERS presents
LET FREEDOM RING
Sunday, June 7 at 3pm at South Church!
Join the Merrimack Valley Ringers as they celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence that is the touchstone of the founding of America. They have brought together a program that celebrates the resiliency of our American history with an eclectic mix of traditional, heartfelt and whimsical pieces.
Some of their selections include William Wood’s arrangement of “The All-American Hometown Band”, which is reminiscent of traditional 4th of July celebrations in cities and towns throughout the country, Sondra Tucker’s stirring arrangement of “We Shall Overcome”, remembering the struggle for civil rights in the 1960’s, and Michael Helman’s moving “Prayer for Peace”, written in response to the tragic events of September 11, 2001. And of course, no 4th of July celebration is complete without “The Stars and Stripes Forever”! Like our American heritage, MVR consists of an eclectic collection of people, from all walks of life, with various distinctive
personalities, all coming together as one to create something that’s meant to be shared. Join them as they celebrate America and be a part of the unique
musical experience that is the Merrimack Valley Ringers, whose motto is “always different … always fun”!

Wisdom Way Contemplative Practice
Come nurture your spirit in this time of contemplative practice. For those who may be coming for the first time, our format is to begin with a 20-minute contemplative silence and then move into another 20 minutes of silence. People can do meditative walking, journaling, sitting…whatever is most renewing for each individual. We then gather to have a mindful conversation around a chosen topic.
We gather on the
4th Friday of each month, from 10-11:30.
For more information, please contact Emily Geoghegan at (693-491-5008). All are welcome.
Leadership Potluck and Mini-Retreat
On Sunday, June 28, I will have been here with you for almost six months, during which time I have been getting to know you, attending meetings and programs, leading worship and preaching, and generally trying to pay attention to how you express yourselves and function as a congregation. I have truly enjoyed joining in with you in all of these ways. And… I am wondering if some of my observations and experiences will be helpful to you all as we look to the future of South Congregational Church in this community, and in this time.
In order to do this, I want to invite anyone interested to join with the leadership of the church (members of SCC’s Committees and Ministries) for a potluck after church in the Fellowship Hall. (10:15?) I hope this can be a time of learning, discerning, and making some plans to take next steps together toward a strong and vital future for South Congregational Church.
