Programs & Ministries

This ministry includes all involved in creating worship, our Meditation groups and prayers groups, and our Guild, in cooperation with the clergy, stewarding the spiritual life of the Church. This is made manifest through our worship services, including weddings and funerals, music, celebration of the sacraments, caring for Members and friends of the church with Christian love, and providing counsel to all other ministries. They also offer support to clergy in 4-way covenants serving in other contexts, and to all on matters affecting the spiritual life of the Church and individuals.

This Ministry’s members, along with the Director of Christian Education, strive to support and develop Christian character and fellowship by organizing and carrying out educational and formative activities and events for all ages. This ministry also works to bring young adults into the fellowship and service of the Church, through Confirmation classes. Intergenerational activities are also offered to build connections among different generations of the church community.

This committee functions as a hub of activity and support for various social justice and outreach opportunities. Decisions about how to designate our monthly Moment for Mission offerings are held in this committee. This is also where plans and processes are managed to engage in issues of importance in our greater community and world. Issues such as immigration, accessibility, LGBTQIA+ inclusion and rights, racial justice - and so much more - and our responses to them, are stewarded in this group.

Pledging to the church is a spiritual practice that acknowledges our gratitude for abundance in our lives and our awareness of shared responsibility for the church. This ministry organizes our annual pledge campaign toward enabling us to fund the Church’s annual operating budget. This Ministry also supports additional special fundraising campaigns authorized by the Church Council.

Whether it’s preparing a potluck, a hike, or some other opportunity to strengthen our community and welcome others into it, this ministry helps us to be engaged with each other in meaningful and enjoyable ways. They are also charged with offering opportunities to learn about our faith and traditions geared toward welcoming new members, and for maintaining our membership records.

We are so fortunate to worship and gather in a wonderful, historic church, and this means that there is much to tend to in our buildings and grounds. The stewardship and maintenance of them are tended to by this committee.

Delegates from South Church represent us at meetings of the New Hampshire Conference, UCC; the Merrimack Association, UCC; the Greater Concord Interfaith Council; and other religious meetings and ecclesiastical councils outside the local fellowship as may be required from this Church.
